Scanning For Cards

Made for cards, priced for cards.

Not sure where to start? This is the easy way in. You don’t need a scanner, design software or any idea what resolution a card needs — post us the original and we’ll send you back a file that’s ready for the card designer. From there, your first card is a few clicks away.

The original painting, and the greeting card printed from its scan.

What we can scan. Flat artwork on paper or thin board up to A3 — watercolour, gouache, acrylic on paper, ink, pencil, pastel (fixed, please), collage, lino and screen prints. If it lies flat on a scanner, we can scan it.

What we can’t. Framed or glazed pieces, stretched canvas, anything larger than A3, or work that’s still wet or fragile. For those, our fine-art studio photographs the artwork instead — see artwork copying & scanning on redcliffeprint.co.uk.

Need gallery-grade colour matching? For giclée prints we hand-match the file to your original and supply two proof prints — that’s the fine-art service at £50. For greeting cards, a good clean scan is all you need, and this is it.

1. Order your scans

Tell us how many pieces you’re sending — £20 for the first, £10 for each one after — and check out as normal.

2. Post or drop off the original

Send it flat between two pieces of stiff card with your name and order number, or bring it to us in Bristol — the address is on the contact page.

3. We scan, you design

We email your file, usually within 1–5 working days of the artwork arriving, and post the original back. Then it’s straight into the card designer.

Which Scan?

Two services, one studio.

Both are done here in Bristol on the same calibrated equipment. The difference is how much hand-finishing the file gets — and what you’re printing.
